Some Things are Nothing but Black and White

Even if you're the kind of person who tends to see the world through rather colourful lenses (me, needless to say, being one of them) some things are nothing but black and white.

Ukrainian winter is  most definitely one of them.

It started out all  right.  Back in December you could even call it kind of magical.

Two months on and you get this.

lest the colour fool you, that IS snow by the side of the road, that black stuff
snow piled up in one of the nearby parking lots
Two months ago you got fun

The word February is Лютий in Ukrainian which means cruel or frosty, so no surprises here.

I am nothing but hopeful, though.  It's only twenty more days until Березень, the month of birch.

  1. It has been far more rainy than frosty this month. I hear this is highly unusual. Does that mean we are in for an early spring or a cruel March?

  2. I'm all for an early spring. Last year when we arrived in March, winter was over so let's continue to hope.
